This year’s Wheelchair Basketball Tournament on January 22, 2016 had a record-breaking 16 teams! A huge thank you to all of our volunteers, and to everyone who came out and congratulations to the Brantford Firefighters for placing first in this year’s tournament!
The tournament started 26 years ago as a fundraiser for Participation House and now raises money for both PSS and Brantwood Community Services.
“We’re all about partnerships and, over the past couple of years, we’ve had a number of groups come on board,” Doug Hunt said. “We’re really pleased to be partnering with Brantwood because we have a lot in common with the services they provide and the people we serve.”
The North Brantford Lions and the Canadian Pioneers have been integral to the success of the event over the years, Hunt said. The tournament also gets help from the Brant Norfolk Basketball Officials Association, whose members donate their services for the event.
